Tips For Success

  • Follow pre-operative instructions carefully (medications, labs, home environment).
  • Plan for support at home after surgery (someone to help first 24-48 hours).
  • Avoid tobacco and manage medical issues (e.g. diabetes) well before surgery.
  • Keep up with physical therapy and activity as directed — even when it feels difficult.
  • Communicate openly with Dr. Fried’s team about pain, concerns, mobility — no concern is too small.

When to Contact Us

Knowing when to reach out is important. Contact the office if you experience:

  • Fever, chills, or signs of infection at incision site (increasing redness, swelling, drainage)
  • Sudden numbness or weakness in arms, legs, or hands
  • Loss of bladder or bowel control
  • Increasing pain that does not respond to prescribed medications
  • New or worsening neurological symptoms
